Meet The Author

Dr. Devin Brossard here. I was the picture of health - a fitness expert, a successful chiropractor, a marathon runner, a philanthropist, a husband, and a father. My life was a whirlwind of activity, yet highly fulfilling. Then, the pandemic hit. My focus and energy shattered and was replaced by anxiety and exhaustion. I became reactive, aggressive, and at times, even mean towards my employees, friends, wife, and kids. It became impossible to ignore that my stress was taking its toll on everyone around me.

Chelsea, my wife, the greatest gift from God, began to shut down, hoping to avoid another intense interaction with me. My kids, Penny, Beckett & Callen started having meltdowns and blow-up responses with simple activities and transitions. 

I knew that the state of my health was directly responsible for their emotional spiraling and I couldn't allow this process to go on any longer. I wanted them to be who they were before. To be able to play and run and laugh as they did in the pre-pandemic years.

But I didn't know what else to do. I ate healthy, took supplements, exercised regularly, went to the chiropractor often, and nothing seemed to help clear this vicious cycle that I was clearly stuck in.

Desperate for answers, we made a radical decision. We left everything behind: board positions, a million-dollar business, our community, and we moved to live in the jungles of the Dominican Republic for nearly a year on a 47-acre abandoned missionary training facility.

We weren't leading a retreat center or on vacation. We were working 12 hours a day renovating this abandoned center & serving the poorest people in the world, providing supplies and free chiropractic care to local villages. There, surrounded by nature, we regained mental clarity and energy. We healed.

To understand this miracle, I spent my early mornings reading scripture, studying neuroscience from the leading experts in the world, and writing 'Fog to Fire, A Rebel's Guide To A Post-Pandemic Health Revolution.'

When we came back to the United States, it became undeniable: the neuro-emotional imbalance that I was stuck in, directly affecting my family, has become common. And to break free of it, is to become a rebel to our modern safeties and comforts.
